"The Laughing Spaceman" (inspired by Charlton Heston and "The Planet Of The Apes")

Here is one of my favorite subjects to paint, Charlton Heston as Astronaut Taylor from the 1968 Science Fiction classic, "The Planet Of The Apes". This is taken from a moment early on in the picture when Taylor notices one of his companions planting a miniature American flag in the sand of the planet on which they have crashed. Being the ultimate cynic, he lets out a bellowing laugh at the ridiculous of the situation. I will never tire of painting Heston's toothy smile. There is always something new to discover every time I look at his face!
